Section A

Answer any 5 questions. Each question carries 2 marks.

1. Statistics – Method of obtaining and analysing numerical facts and figures in order to arrive at some decisions.

2. Frequency curve – A continuous frequency distribution can be represented by a smooth curve known as frequency curve.

3. Primary data- Collected by the investigator for the first time.

4. Cartograms – Statistical maps used to furnish information on geographical basis.

5. Questionnaire – Form which an informant is expected to fill himself.

6. Pie diagram – Data shown by means of a circle and the divisions by the sectors of the circle.

Section B

Answer any 2 questions. Each question carries 5 marks.

7.  Numerical facts only, no individual cases, true only an average, does not reveal the entire story, only one of the methods, misused, only means ,not a solution.

8.   Table number, title of the table, Caption, Stub, Body, Head note, Foot note, Source data.

9.   Draw a frequency curve.

10. Introduce himself, questions should be minimum, short, logical order, clear, personal questions should be avoided, yes or no questions, look attractive.

               (2 x 5 = 10 Marks)

 

 

Section C

Answer any 1 question. The question carries 10 marks

11.  Characteristics:

Aggregate of facts, multiplicity of causes, numerically expressed, collected in systematic manner, predetermined purpose, placed in relation to each other.

  Functions:

Simplifies complexity, precise form, condensation, comparison of data, testing, prediction, formulating policies, relationship between different groups, enlarge human experience.
